THE PROGRAM

Tanenbaum is one of the leading organizations in the world focused on the religious dimension of cultural competence in health care. We work directly with health care organizations including large health care systems, small- and mid-size hospitals, and medical and nursing schools. We also publish curricula and other educational tools and materials and participate in national and international conferences.

Our trainings and materials enable health care professionals at all levels to build skills to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients and their families around religious issues and understand the variety of ways religious beliefs and practices interface with health care. Our services include briefings and workshops, Grand Rounds presentations, webinars, medical education curriculum development, panel discussions, conference workshops and plenary sessions, consulting on better practices as well as comprehensive needs assessments of health care facilities.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Program Associate is a full-time position who reports directly to the Manager of Programs and interacts with the CEO.

The Senior Program Associate will be responsible for managing and growing the program through developing and leading initiatives to broaden the reach and impact of the program’s products and services (presentations, workshops, online resources), and maintaining/procuring relationships for the Tanenbaum Membership program.

The Senior Program Associate will also liaise with other programs and departments as necessary. This includes collaborating with the Workplace Program on relevant consulting and membership matters.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•       Oversee the Health Care program and supervise Program Associate(s) and Assistant(s) under the guidance of the Manager of Programs.

•       Create and manage the workflow within the program, in consultation with the Manager of Programs.

•       Expand the Health Care program by identifying, supporting and spearheading opportunities for new initiatives.

•       Find new and innovative ways to engage with Membership Program members and other clients.

•       Conduct and developing workshops, presentations, webinars and other programmatic speaking engagements.

•       Build/manage relationships with hospitals, health systems, and medical education programs and develop new relationships to help the program complete/grow its work more effectively.

•       Conduct ongoing research related to relevant laws, religious discrimination in health care, diversity, equity and inclusion trends, organizational and professional development, etc., and ensure that Tanenbaum’s training programs and products are effective, up-to-date, and cutting edge.

•       Stay abreast of trends in organizational and professional development, cultural competence, ethics, and diversity and inclusion, and ensuring that Tanenbaum training programs are effective, up-to-date, and cutting edge.

•       Manage grant funded projects from beginning to end to ensure that all goals are reached and deliverables are met in a timely fashion.

•       Manage requests for information about the Health Care program.

•       In collaboration with the Manager of Programs, lead outreach and marketing initiatives, including identification of target markets and new opportunities, creation of outreach materials, and tracking responses and following up as needed.

•       Oversee the program’s monitoring and evaluation initiative by tracking key indicators and reporting annually on findings.

•       Support Communications with updating and maintenance of Health Care resources; researching, drafting and finalizing materials for print and online publication.

•       Collaborate with Development on identifying potential partners and funders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

•          Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.

•          Degree or related experience in public health, religion, intercultural relations, medical anthropology, bioethics, social work, or a related field.

•          Experience with public speaking.

•          Exceptional research, analysis and written, oral and presentation communication skills.

•          Experience with adult learning, distanced learning, and/or online learning.

•          Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking.

•          Solution-oriented.

•          Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

•          Experience in a consulting role a plus.

•          Skilled at project management.

•          Experience in creating and managing budgets.

•          Takes initiative.

•          Creative.

•          Team player.

•          Represent Tanenbaum and the program in a professional manner at all times.

•          Enjoy working with people and possess strong communication and motivation skills.

•          Expertise in computers including internet research, Windows, MS Word and Excel.

•          Sense of humor.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•          Graduate degree or related experience in public health, social science, religion, intercultural relations, medical anthropology, bioethics, social work, or a related field.

•          3 + years’ experience in public speaking, training and/or facilitation.

•          3 + years’ experience in public health, health sciences, diversity and inclusion, or intercultural communications a plus.

SALARY RANGE

$55,000-60,000 commensurate with experience
