Overview

Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking to hire Disease Intervention Program Managers to oversee the responsibility for upper-level administrative functions associated with the activities of general epidemiology and disease control in Jefferson County. Their role involves strategic planning, budget creation and oversight, and contract negotiations. Employees in this job class are directly responsible for reviewing and reporting on investigations of infectious diseases in the community, as well as coordinating responses to outbreaks and situations involving the spread of infectious diseases. Managers work under the general direction of the Health Services Administrator, who evaluates their work for program effectiveness and efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for employment in this position, a candidate must possess the following:

Driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum completion of 24 credit hours in biological sciences, anatomy, behavioral sciences, health education, health science, public health, or related field.
Experience working in a public health setting in the provision of community-based health services (e.g., communicable disease investigation; disease testing, treatment and control; health education, counseling, interviewing).
Experience investigating epidemiological infections and outbreaks (i.e., coordinating investigative resources, consulting medical experts, interviewing patients, etc.).
Experience ensuring compliance with public health laws.
Experience supervising a group of individuals for the purposes of task management and monitoring of performance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications are experiences, education, and/or other job-related qualifications considered to be highly desirable by Merit System agencies. One or more of the preferred qualifications may be used by the hiring agency to identify applicants to invite to participate in subsequent selection processes.

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in public health, health education, biology, microbiology, or a related field of study.
Experience as a Disease Intervention Supervisor or equivalent position.
Experience creating and/or developing a budget.
Experience assisting or leading community health event screenings or outreach activities.

Salary range:  $67,433 – $104,624 (starting salary is commensurate with education and experience)
