Overview

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (DMSP) in the School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal (ESPUM) is recruiting for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor for a teaching and research career in Biostatistics, with a focus on public health issues (e.g., environmental health, climate change).

Responsibilities

  • Teach biostatistiques at the masters and doctoral levels in both general and specialist courses;
  • Supervise master’s and doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in the completion of directed studies, theses and research projects;
  • Develop and conduct a research program in biostatistics and publish in academic journals;
  • Contribute actively to the functioning of the Department and the School through participation in administrative, teaching and research activities;
  • Contribute to the reputation of the DMSP, the ESPUM and the Université de Montréal by participating in various academic and extra-academic activities, both in scientific and practical settings.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A PhD in biostatistics, statistics or a related field;
  • Expertise in biostatistics with applications to public health issues (e.g., One Health, digital health, climate change, infectious diseases and lifestyle habits);
  • Solid specialist training in theoretical, methodological and applied statistics;
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach biostatistics methods at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels to a variety of audiences;
  • Demonstrate the potential to supervise graduate students;
  • Demonstrate an ability to conduct high-level research focusing on public health issues;
  • Demonstrate the potential to develop local, national and international collaboration;
  • Have sufficient knowledge of the French language or be determined to learn it once in the position via the French language support program offered by UdeM, in accordance with the Language Policy of the Université de Montréal.

  • The contact details of three referees who will be contacted to obtain a letter of recommendation.
