Overview

Join a dedicated team that works to safeguard the health of people in Washington State. As the Director of Operations at the Public Health Laboratories (PHL), you’ll ensure the seamless functioning of our facilities, support critical public health services, and contribute to life-saving work. The PHL supports testing for infectious diseases, environmental safety, and newborn screenings, playing a key role in public health at state, national, and international levels.

What You Will Do:

As the Public Health Laboratories (PHL) Director of Operations, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that our Shoreline Campus operates efficiently, maintaining safety and performance standards. You’ll oversee essential laboratory support services, manage budgets, and drive special projects that contribute to the success of our microbiology, environmental, and newborn screening programs. Your expertise in building operations, safety, and compliance will be vital to the day-to-day functioning of the labs.

In this role, you’ll be a strategic advisor, collaborating closely with the PHL Director and management team to ensure resources are used effectively, and you’ll act as a liaison with state and national laboratories. From handling emergencies to coordinating grants, procurement, and staffing needs, your leadership will ensure we continue to provide top-tier public health services to local and national partners. If you thrive in a dynamic environment with a broad scope of responsibilities, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
