As a Healthcare Preparedness Program, Deputy Director within the Division of Health Protection, Emergency Preparedness section at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee systemic coordination of Georgia’s healthcare emergency planning and response to promote emergency preparedness in the region and state
  • Address the healthcare preparedness core functions as outlined by  the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR)
  • Interface collaboratively with other state agencies and partners, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, community health centers, volunteers, EMS, public health districts, and Health and Human Services Region IV partners, concerning public health preparedness activities and establishment of healthcare coalitions.
  • Provide project coordination and preparedness leadership to all established (14) healthcare coalitions throughout the state.
  • Actively participate in regional healthcare community-based tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises
  • Oversee healthcare preparedness training for healthcare personnel.
  • Supervise section leads as assigned by the Director.
  • Take call for the Division and assist with ESF 8 related activities within the EOC and the GEMA SOC.
  • Participate in local, state and national workgroups related to public health preparedness and response activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
OR
Nine (9) years of related professional experience which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
OR
Five (5) years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in education, training, and/or facilitating groups.
  • Effective written and oral communicator.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Good analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Position may require occasional travel, including overnight travel.
