As an Amendment Services Specialist with the Center for Health Statistics (CHS), you play a critical role in supporting the Department of Health’s mission to protect and improve the health of all people in Washington. Your work ensures the accuracy and integrity of vital records, which are essential for individuals to access services, prove identity, and maintain legal documentation. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to guide and process requests that modify or create records, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Provide technical assistance on vital record amendments, corrections, and certifications to the public, internal staff, government agencies, law firms, hospitals, funeral homes, and local health jurisdictions.
Assess and evaluate requests for amendments, corrections, and registrations, ensuring compliance with statutes and regulations.
Approve or deny amendment requests based on submitted documentation and identity verification.
Research complex amendment issues and provide clear, actionable guidance.
Participate in maintaining and updating the WHALES database to reflect amendments and corrections.
Collaborate on strategic initiatives, legislative changes, and quality improvement projects.
Support data system functionality for WHALES by reporting issues and testing updates.
