As a Project Coordinator, Emergency Preparedness within the Division of Health Protection, Office of Emergency Preparedness, at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Under broad supervision, performs complex administrative duties and operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making for functional and programmatic success.
  • Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programmatic operations in addition to providing potential solutions for identified areas of improvement.
  • Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment.
  • Provide a high-level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions.
  • Develop trainings as it relates implementing new strategic, sustainable and innovation solutions across the program.
  • Assists in the planning, developing and execution of training and exercises.
  • Provides strategic analysis.
  • During disaster operations, conduct activities supporting response activities in the DPH Emergency Operations Center and as a Public Health Liaison at Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security State Operations Center during an activation.
  • Represent Emergency Preparedness during partner collaboration meetings, events and conferences, as needed.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in communication, English, or public relations from an accredited college
OR
One (1) year of experience required at the lower level Busi Support Analyst 2 (GSP131).

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, emergency management, public health or a related field AND three (3) years of experience related to area of assignment.
  • Experience in public health program management, in areas such as emergency preparedness, emergency management, or environmental health.
  • Experience in teaching, training, or emergency communications.
  • Experience with programmatic planning, specifically related to operationalizing programmatic initiatives and documents on a federal, state, regional or local level.
  • Experience in the use of MS Teams, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint computer application software.
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainable and innovative solutions.
  • Experience or knowledge of project management processes.
