Job Description and Duties
Under general supervision of the HESIS Chief, the Research Data Analyst II researches, analyzes, and evaluates data sources on exposures and health effects to inform HESIS’s strategic planning, hazard evaluations, surveillance activities, research studies, public health investigations, and educational/outreach efforts in the area of occupational exposure to toxic chemicals and other workplace hazards.
Supports HESIS staff on epidemiologic studies, including contributing to data collection, review, and statistical analysis. Assists the HESIS staff in responding to data requests from Cal/OSHA’s Research and Standards Unit. Prepares output such as tables, figures, and other data visualizations for use in presentations and publications for scientific and lay audiences. Assists other HESIS staff in the preparation of the HESIS annual report to the legislature.
Develops, implements, and monitors systems and procedures to assemble and structure necessary data to support various HESIS activities.
Assists HESIS staff in managing the HESIS electronic Repository of Occupational Health Information (eROHI), a continuation of the program’s hard-copy collection of scientific journal articles in toxicology, occupational medicine, industrial hygiene, and related fields.
