Job Description and Duties

THIS IS A STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT.  THE INCUMBENT WILL BE HEADQUARTERED IN THE COUNTY NEAREST THE RESIDENCE OF THE SELECTED CANDIDATE. THE COUNTIES ARE: *Contra Costa County*Sacramento County*

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by advancing climate change and health-related activities promoting equitable social, economic, and environmental conditions to achieve optimal health, mental health, and well-being for all.

The candidate works under the supervision of the Health Program Manager III, Climate Change and Health Equity Branch Manager, in the Climate Change and Health Equity Branch (CCHEB) in the Office of Health Equity (OHE). The Health Program Manager II (HPM II) serves as the Manager for the Climate Change and Health Equity Section (CCHES).

The HPM II plans, organizes, and directs the work of a multidisciplinary team, which engages internal and external stakeholders to promote health and racial equity through interagency efforts to work on health impacts of climate change in California. Manages staff development, evaluates performance, and coordinates climate change-related health equity activities across CDPH, State agencies, schools, and community organizations. Oversees communications, including media, social media, and collaborates with CDPH staff to ensure climate change and health equity. Leads the development and tracking of sensitive cross-department policy matters, including pending legislation, fiscal and budgetary items, and health equity. Represents CDPH and CCHES at local, state, and national meetings related to the work of the team.
