Responsibilities
The Program Research Specialist III (PRS III), in the Office of Data Analysis and Research Translation, will coordinate the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of findings of the collaborative supplemental surveillance project between the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). The incumbent will coordinate the data management and analysis of HIV surveillance data; coordinate program research activities related to data QA/QC and data reporting for HIV surveillance projects. The incumbent will provide technical assistance for select electronic data transfers to/from the Wadsworth Center, DOCCS, outside laboratories, and other surveillance partners, and conduct analysis of longitudinal and cross-sectional data. The incumbent will also develop data reports and research publications. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Project management and experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, or other complex surveillance systems. Experience evaluating data collection and quality. Experience conducting data analysis and synthesizing results in the form of written reports. Experience working with stakeholders. Experience with Microsoft Access/Excel and SQL/SAS.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
Travel, 25%-50% of the time, will be required. A valid driver’s license in good standing is required for locations where public transportation is not available.
