Overview
The Environmental Health Investigations Branch protects the health of all Californians by identifying environmental hazards, partnering with communities to build capacity, and promoting healthy environments. The Exposure Assessment Section (EAS) measures chemical exposures across the California population, determining the extent and source of exposure, and conducting outreach and education on how to minimize exposures, particularly in highly exposed and vulnerable communities.
Under the general direction of the Exposure Assessment Section Supervisor, and in collaboration with the Exposure Surveillance and Epidemiology Unit, the Health Program Manager I (HPM I) will oversee the management of biomonitoring projects as part of the California Environmental Contaminants Biomonitoring Program (also known as Biomonitoring California). This will include the strategic planning for community and stakeholder engagement, development and oversight of project budgets and timelines, coordination with collaborators both within and external to CDPH, and communication with and management of study participants. This position provides daily supervision and guidance to a team of professional and technical staff who conduct participant recruitment and management; outreach and education regarding individual biomonitoring results and exposure reduction strategies; and communicate the connection between environmental exposures and overall public health. Staff includes two research scientists (Research Scientist I, Epidemiology/Biostatistics) and one Health Program Specialist I (HPS I). Staff may at times also include student interns and trainees.
