About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our healthcare team in providing essential nutrition care to an underserved population. In this role, you will work within a secure California correctional environment to assess nutritional needs, develop meal plans, and collaborate with medical and food service staff to support health outcomes for individuals with diverse dietary requirements.

Key Responsibilities
– Conduct nutrition assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients with chronic diseases, special diets, and acute health needs.
– Work closely with medical, nursing, and mental health staff to integrate nutrition therapy into overall patient care.
– Review and approve therapeutic menus in compliance with state/federal regulations and evidence-based guidelines.
– Educate patients on nutrition-related topics such as diabetes management, heart health, weight management, and healthy eating habits.
– Monitor and document progress in accordance with facility policies and accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA).
– Provide guidance to food service staff on menu planning, portion control, and sanitation.
– Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance nutritional services.

Position Details:
40 Hours per week (6 months with possible extension)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
(Orientation 2 weeks)
Rate: $46-$55/hr ($1,840-$2,200/week)
Status: Independent Contractor (1099)

Must have a current and valid registration issued by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in order to perform services in the State of California.

No experience is required.
