Overview

Position Summary
CHHF seeks a mission-driven Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. Reporting to the Board President, the ED is the key liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and partners in both the U.S. and Honduras.

This role requires a dynamic, organized, and visionary leader with strengths in nonprofit management, fundraising, cross-cultural collaboration, and communications. The ED will work remotely (with a preference for residence in North Carolina or South Carolina) and travel occasionally within the U.S. and Honduras.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
Lead CHHF’s strategic planning and execution in alignment with its mission and long-term goals.
Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to facilitate effective governance and strategic decision-making.
Prepare and present Board reports, meeting materials, and updates.
Provide oversight of all CHHF programs and operations in both the U.S. and Honduras.

2. Fundraising & Donor Engagement
Design and execute fundraising strategies, including campaigns, donor cultivation, and grant applications.
Lead all communications to donors via email, mail, social media, and newsletters—highlighting donor and volunteer impact.
Maintain donor database and oversee recurring giving programs.
Plan and coordinate donor outreach events and fundraising initiatives.

3. Marketing & Communications
Manage website updates and social media presence to increase engagement and visibility.
Create compelling content for newsletters, appeals, and outreach—ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with CHHF’s voice.
Use metrics to track email open rates, click-throughs, and donor response.

4. Financial Management
Oversee budget development, financial planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Manage daily accounting operations (QuickBooks).
Collaborate with the Board Treasurer on financial oversight and projections.

5. Program Oversight & Operations
Supervise both U.S.-based and Honduras-based staff.
Assist with logistics planning for medical brigades, clinic scheduling, and volunteer support.
Travel 1–2 times per year to Honduras to maintain strong relationships and monitor in-country programs.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public health, business, communications, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 3 years of nonprofit leadership experience, with demonstrated success in fundraising, donor communications, or program management.
Experience working with or supporting a nonprofit Board.
Strong financial acumen and proficiency in QuickBooks and nonprofit financial reporting.
Website and social media management experience (e.g., WordPress, Facebook, Mailchimp, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based tools.

Preferred Qualifications
Spanish language proficiency (conversational or fluent).
Experience in global health, medical missions, or international development.
Understanding of rural healthcare delivery and cross-cultural collaboration.
Experience coordinating volunteers or medical professionals.

Position Details
Work Location: Remote (preference for candidates in NC or SC)
Compensation: $60,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with experience), salary and benefits.
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Hours: 40+ hours per week; occasional evening/weekend hours and travel required

The Carolina Honduras Health Foundation (CHHF) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to improving health outcomes in the Department of Colón, Honduras. Each year, CHHF organizes approximately 18 volunteer-led medical missions, delivering free medical, dental, and vision care to more than 10,000 people in underserved rural communities. We also support health education, operate a referral program for specialized care, and maintain year-round clinic operations through telemedicine and our in-country staff.
