Job Description:

The Project Evaluation Specialist will oversee the daily implementation of evaluation activities under the University at Albany’s Project ACCESS (Achieving College Completion Through Engaged Support Services) Grant Project, including the coordination and implementation of evaluation efforts focused on Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), and other evidence-based and evidence-informed prevention, intervention, training, and education efforts being evaluated within this project on a large public university campus using a comprehensive public health framework.

The incumbent will be part of a dynamic, progressive, innovative, vibrant, productive, and diverse team of practitioners, translational researchers, and students within the Center for Behavioral Health Promotion and Applied Research, School of Education, an organization that has earned national recognition for its work. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to cohesive functioning among grant staff members and student trainees, members of the target population of faculty, staff, and students, and campus and community partners and establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities Include: 

  • Plan and carry out evaluation of translational research projects
  • Supervise Center staff and students engaged in translational research
  • Oversee and manage data collection, analysis, and reporting, including the required Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) requirements for SAMHSA-funded projects.
  • Implement quality assurance activities and evaluation efforts related to project implementation, efficacy, and costs.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Center staff to develop and submit grant proposals
  • Produce high-quality research reports, whitepapers, presentations, and publications that effectively communicate findings and insights to internal and external stakeholders
  • Present project findings to local, state, and national audiences
  • Mentor center staff and students in the development and implementation of translational research projects, presentations, and publications
  • Supervise Center staff as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health or a related field
  • Experience in conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research and/or the application of research to practice.
  • Knowledge of web-based and social media-delivered interventions addressing substance use, gambling, mental health concerns, risk for suicide, and related risks.
  • Proficiency with scientific software such as R, SPSS, Mplus, or Stata
  • Proven track record of scientific presentations and publications
  • Strong potential to obtain external funding
  • Detail-oriented; able to perform complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize tasks and accomplish set goals efficiently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the delivery of Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT).
  • Experience contributing to grant projects focused on substance use and/or suicide prevention with adolescents, emerging adults, and college students.
  • Experience in program development, teaching, and the training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Licensed or license eligible in New York State, if relevant.
  • Experience in organizational-level and systems intervention.
