As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain the secure infrastructure that keeps critical health systems running across Washington. From disease surveillance to emergency response, your work helps ensure the data, systems, and people behind public health can move quickly and confidently when it matters most.
You’ll take the lead in integrating new technologies, migrating systems to Azure, and strengthening the core services that power our statewide operations. The impact of your work reaches from local clinics to federal partners like CDC, protecting the health and safety of millions.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll serve as a senior technical leader and hands-on engineer within the Server Operations team, where no two days are the same. Your work will include:
Designing, configuring, and managing complex server, storage, and cloud environments — both on-premises and in Azure.
Managing enterprise core services like Active Directory, Azure AD, M365, and DFS.
Leading migrations to modern IaaS and PaaS environments that enhance performance and security.
Troubleshooting high-impact issues across systems and networks, collaborating with vendors, state partners, and internal teams to keep operations running smoothly.
Mentoring junior staff, shaping standards, and driving process improvements that strengthen our statewide IT ecosystem.
You’ll also help plan and implement new technology initiatives, ensuring every solution aligns with the agency’s long-term strategy and commitment to service continuity.
