The new Department of Public Health and Health Administration (PHHA) in the College of Health and Human Services at UNC Charlotte invites applicants for a nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Epidemiology position with a proposed start date of August 15, 2026.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology by August 2026. Applicants must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and are expected to present evidence of promise for contributing to the Department’s research portfolio, obtaining external research funding, and teaching across the BSPH, MPH, and PhD degree programs.

Preferred candidates will have an MPH. The extent to which the candidate can contribute to the mission and vision of the Department will be considered. Candidates from all areas of Epidemiology will be considered. Applicants with research experience in cancer and other chronic diseases, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, health disparities, sexually transmitted diseases, and advanced epidemiologic methods, such as causal inference, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Public Health and Health Administration (PHHA), which will be created in Fall 2026 by the merger of the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health and the Department of Health Management and Policy, is committed to prepare students and scholars to lead impactful public health initiatives, expand access to quality care, and contribute to healthier outcomes for populations. The component units have extensive ties with local and regional health departments, health care systems, and other community partners. In addition to our CEPH-accredited BSPH, MPH and PhD degree programs, we offer a BS in Health Systems Management, and a CAHME-accredited MHA program; and we collaborate with the School of Data Science in the delivery of an MS in Health Informatics and Analytics. The merged department will consist of 30 full-time faculty serving approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. We hold memberships in the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).

The academic units in the College of Health and Human Services deliver nationally accredited programs in athletic training, exercise science, health administration, public health, nursing, respiratory therapy, and social work. The College collaborates in the delivery of programs in gerontology and sports analytics. Facilities include: a complex of learning resources and laboratories for high impact real-life clinical simulations to facilitate the development of students’ critical thinking, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills; a virtual cadaver lab; and Anatomage Tables.
