The Foundation supports and recognizes high-impact research and journalism, translates complex research and health information for broader audiences, and convenes leaders across health care to catalyze innovative ideas and advance meaningful change.

 

Position Summary
The Communications and Program Administration, Senior Associate plays a key role in advancing NIHCM’s mission by supporting external communications, coordinating events, and providing logistical and administrative support for programs and special projects. This position will report to the Vice President and work collaboratively with all team members.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and creative, with strong writing, design, and technical skills, and has a keen interest in health policy and audience engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities 
Communications (Approx. 50%)

  • Support the development and implementation of an organizational communications plan to advance program goals and initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity, tone, and messaging across all platforms and materials.
  • Draft and disseminate digital communications for NIHCM publications, programs, and press releases; develop and implement outreach and advertising strategies to amplify the visibility and impact of NIHCM’s work.
  • Manage NIHCM’s website to ensure functionality, accuracy, and accessibility; make regular updates and post new materials.
  • Create and manage content for NIHCM’s social media platforms, ensuring high-quality posts that reflect organizational priorities and engage key audiences.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and support the timely publication of program-related materials.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics from NIHCM’s website, digital communications, and social media platforms to inform content and dissemination strategy, and collaborate with programming leads to apply insights.
  • Design and produce materials for in-person and virtual events, including brochures, presentations, and speaker materials.

Program Support (Approx. 45%)

  • Provide program administrative and logistical support to program staff.
  • Manage the grant and award application process, including development and management of the application software platform, addressing technical inquiries from applicants, organizing incoming applications, and assisting with the coordination of materials for external review panels.
  • Support the planning and execution of virtual events, including scheduling webinars, managing presentation slides, and managing participant registration. Operate and oversee the Zoom webinar platform during live events to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Lead the planning and execution of in-person events, as needed.
  • Provide design assistance for in-house data visualizations, as needed.

Special Projects (Approx. 5%)

  • Contribute to cross-team initiatives and other special projects as assigned.
  • Conduct background research and assist in developing written summaries, reports, and other materials.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, health policy or a related field; Master’s degree a plus.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in communications and program management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences; experience across social media platforms a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a small team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign and Photoshop, and familiarity with content management systems, Mailchimp (or similar platform), and social media platforms.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new software or technologies.
  • Demonstrated design skills and attention to visual presentation.
  • Interest in health policy, public health, and nonprofit communications.

 

Location
Our team works remotely (9 am – 5 pm ET) on a day-to-day basis, convening in person 4 – 5 times a year for in-person meetings in Washington, DC.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience. NIHCM offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; vacation, holiday, and sick leave; retirement plan; wellness benefit.
