Overview

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of the South Central AIDS Education and Training Center (SCAETC) at LSU Health, the incumbent is responsible for implementing and supporting the education objectives of the program. By developing and providing appropriate HIV-related educational opportunities to health care providers; inter-professional health teams; and social service services providers within primary care settings, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and AIDS Service Organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide appropriate HIV-related continuing professional education to health care and social service providers, administrators, AIDS Service organization staff, key decision maker, stake holders and community leaders (constituents) based on the established work plan, educational needs of those served by the SCAETC. This includes but is not limited to topics addressing clinical care, health system management and service delivery. Conducts competency assessments of actual and potential constituents to identify needs and assure ongoing development of SCAETC workplan. Assures all trainings are based on current clinical recommendations and evidence-based practice. Incorporates clinical research findings into program planning and development. Utilize state-of-the-art media/communication formats, platforms and methodologies; address various educational needs and backgrounds of constituents as well as utilize appropriate teaching modalities.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of care providers knowledge and organizational capacity to improve the patient experience through continuing education, technical assistance, and coaching. Identifies and recruits internal and external resources for educational activities and improve the ability of the SCAETC to meet its workplan goals as needed. Retain knowledge and skills to be able to provide trainings based on current clinical recommendations and evidenced based practice.
  • Collect data and create reports to assist with day-to-day operations of the program as well as its ongoing monitoring. Work with other SCAETC staff to improve mechanisms for data collection and analysis to monitor constituents needs, quality of programs and success in meeting work plan goals.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and projects as assigned by Program Manager. Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to clinical, program, and policy development.

A bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or other health care-related field is required, along with two (2) years of experience in healthcare delivery, HIV/AIDS education, and professional training/education delivery. Master’s degree in a health care-related field is preferred.
