Overview
This role leads the infrastructure that supports public health systems used across Washington. As the IT Manager for Server Operations, you will oversee enterprise server operations within a complex hybrid and multi cloud environment that includes on premise systems and platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS.
You will manage the team responsible for identity and access management, enterprise file services, virtualization, storage, operating system lifecycle management, and cloud hosted infrastructure. This includes setting technical standards, driving modernization efforts aligned with a cloud first strategy, and ensuring systems are secure, stable, and scalable.
The work has statewide reach. More than 3,000 employees and numerous external partners rely on the systems your team supports to access applications, data, and communication tools. Your leadership directly influences system reliability, security posture, and the agency’s ability to maintain uninterrupted public health operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Lead and develop a team of senior and journey level system administrators, setting direction and managing performance
Oversee enterprise core services including Active Directory, cloud identity, file services, server operating systems, virtualization, and storage
Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud and on-premise environments across Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service solutions
Drive modernization efforts aligned with the state’s cloud first strategy
Manage system performance, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and incident response
Establish infrastructure standards, roadmaps, and best practices across the agency
Partner with vendors and statewide technology leaders to deliver resilient, scalable solutions
Serve as a technical authority during outages or high impact incidents
