Overview
Wake County Public Health seeks a dynamic Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant / Family Nurse Practitioner) to provide health care to patients of the WCPH Women’s Health Program (Family Planning and Prenatal Programs). This position is based primarily at the new Swinburne Public Health Building.
Essential functions include:
- Conducting physical examinations
- Ordering appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
- Evaluating and communicating test results
- Treating patients – prescribing medications, writing referrals, and counseling patients under the supervision of a physician
- Providing any of the following services; preventative care, education, family planning care, prenatal care, STD care and acute illness management
- Providing clinical services to the behavioral health team as needed for continuity of client care
- Perform procedures as indicated after appropriate training
Other duties include:
- Completion of charges per protocol
- Responding to telephone calls from patients
- Case management as indicated by patient needs
- Care monitoring and quality improvement activities
- Consultation with the front desk, nursing, and other staff
- Participation in staff meetings
- Involvement in innovative projects to improve the community and individual health
- Collaborate with CHDP team in care coordination / wellness of foster children as needed
- Teaching students and residents, consistent with experience
- Training new and continuing staff in procedures and protocols
- Collaborate to develop and maintain protocols and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Some evening or weekends as needed. Emergency/Inclement weather shelter.
*Additional Work Schedule details: Mon – Fri 8:15am-5:15pm with a future expectation to work one evening clinic per week until 7:15pm to make 40 hours
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- As required by license
- No specific experience required
- Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife license approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners. CPR, AED and DEA Registration.
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted
