Overview
This position is in the Gallatin County Health Department and plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and supervises the Health Department’s Prevention Service programs; collaborates with community organizations, the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) and the public. The position provides the overall management of the Health Department’s Chronic Disease Prevention, Maternal and Child Health, and Women Infants and Children (WIC) activities and programs, and offers leadership in developing and implementing emerging public health initiatives. This may include behavioral health promotion and prevention strategies that align with department priorities and community needs. Position is responsible for daily management of a diverse staff, and ongoing performance evaluation of several public health programs and multiple contracts. This position reports to the Health Officer and supervises all of the Prevention Service Division employees. Position holder provides visionary leadership in a team environment; collaborates with community organizations; and is one of three people in the Department who must be prepared to serve as acting or interim Health Officer in the event the regular Health Officer is incapacitated or unavailable due to leave or other circumstances.
