Overview

The VA Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention is seeking a full-time Statistician (Data Scientist) to work as part of their Data Analytics Core. Primary duties include: (1) appropriate use and application of data science, statistical theory and epidemiology; (2) expertise in managing large, complex datasets; (3) planning and performing multivariate analyses; and (4) effectively communicating complex analytic results to diverse stakeholders.

At minimum, candidates must have: (1) completed at least 15 semester hours of graduate-level statistics courses, (2) demonstrate proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, preferably SAS, R or Python, and (3) and possess at least 1 year experience working in statistics-related role. Experience working with health services and public health data is desirable. We will need to review a college transcript and resume to determine the candidate meets the education and experience criteria.

The Center of Excellence is located in Canandaigua, NY. Candidates living anywhere in the U.S. will be considered; however, this is not a remote position. Office space at the closest VA must be secured prior to offers of employment. This is a full-time position and includes a full benefits package. U.S. citizenship is a requirement of employment with the VA.
