Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Public and One Health beginning in the fall of 2025. The College has a new undergraduate major program in Public and One Health, a unique public health program that utilizes One Health as its guiding principle. We seek an enthusiastic candidate who is committed to teaching excellence, actively engaging undergraduate students, and collaboration within the University community to ensure a positive overall experience for all students. The lecturer will have strong foundational knowledge and training in the public health discipline and will deliver One Health-themed educational content consisting of coordinating at least two courses per semester in two or more of the following areas of public health: social and behavioral health including health promotion; and public health policy, law, and ethics, in relation to humans, animals, and the environment. Possibilities exist for the development of a new undergraduate course or courses (with options to include graduate coursework) depending on the individual’s area of expertise.

Requirements/Qualifications:

The qualified applicant must hold a terminal degree (e.g., DrPH or PhD) specifically in Public Health or a closely related discipline OR a Master of Public Health (MPH or MSPH) or equivalent, combined with a terminal graduate or professional degree (e.g., MD, JD, DVM, PhD) in a different/allied field at the time the appointment begins.

The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired qualifications include excellence in didactic classroom or group instruction, a commitment to professional development and pursuit of opportunities aimed to enhance the undergraduate student learning experience, specific interest in the One Health concept and/or experience working on One Health issues, current or recent employment in a public or population health field, and/or specific board certifications relating to public health or preventive medicine.
