The Business Process Consultant for Performance Improvement plays a pivotal role in realizing our Mission by ensuring Austin Public Health (APH) is collecting, analyzing, and reporting high-quality data and information to inform decision-making, identify the impact of APH activities and programs, and communicate results. This position will work with staff throughout the department to lead APH’s Performance Management system and processes, provide support for department-wide quality improvement activities, and conduct data analysis, reporting, and monitoring utilizing an equity lens.

 

Education and/or Equivalent Experience: 

·       Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years experience related to the job.

Preferred Experience:

·       Understanding of Equity-Centered Data Systems

·       Experience utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making and communicate impact

·       Experience with Continuous Process Improvement techniques

·       Experience developing, reviewing, and monitoring Performance Measures

·       Demonstrated experience leading diverse cross-functional teams including individual contributors, management, and executive leadership

·       Ability to travel to more than one work location

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1.       Leads multiple process improvement teams

2.       Develops project work plans, project management and periodic assessment

3.       Facilitates the development of stakeholder analysis and communication plans for process improvement teams

4.       Identifies, collects, and researches to complete data analysis

5.       Makes recommendations to project teams and recommends organizational change utilizing appropriate talent

6.       Advises process leaders and team leaders in defining/identifying key measurers and setting performance targets

7.       Develops and improves models and methodologies for the department

8.       Reviews and critiques the work of functional team staff

9.       Communicates project and program information to all levels of the organization

Everyday in every part of our community, public health protects Austin and Travis County residents from infectious diseases and environmental threats and educates us about the benefits of healthful behaviors in avoiding chronic diseases.

Services to help people meet needs across the lifespan, such as immunizations, shelter, food, clothing, and job assistance.
Screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and tuberculosis.
Nutritional support through the Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC).
Birth and death certificates.
Inspection and permitting of restaurants and food establishments.

Austin Public Health is accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). This milestone is an official recognition that Austin Public Health meets or exceeds the rigorous public health standards established by the non-profit, non-governmental PHAB. Jointly supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, PHAB sets standards against which public health departments can continuously improve the quality of their services and performance. Our department is the third public health department in the state to receive accreditation.
