We seek a colleague who will support our institutional commitment to ensuring that BU is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive. BU is an AAU institution with a rich tradition dedicated to inclusion and social justice. We are proud to be the first American university to award a Ph.D. to a woman, and we continue our tradition of educating a diverse and talented student body. The Boston University School of Public Health pursues a detailed plan for fostering a diverse and inclusive community recognizing that diversity of experience deepens the intellectual endeavor.

The Department of Biostatistics is comprised of approximately 30 faculty, who are internationally recognized for their innovation in research and scholarship in a diverse range of areas of biostatistics including statistical genetics, clinical trials, surveillance, longitudinal studies, Bayesian statistics and risk prediction. Additionally, biostatistics faculty play leading roles in several large observational studies such as the renowned Framingham Heart Study, the Million Veterans Project and the Risk Evaluation & Education for Alzheimer’s Disease study.  They actively collaborate with researchers at Boston Medical Center, New England’s largest safety net hospital, with a mission to serve underserved populations.

The department has large and successful graduate programs, including a PhD and MS in Biostatistics, an MS in Applied Biostatistics, as well as one of the oldest Summer Institute in Biostatistics (SIBS) programs, a pipeline program for undergraduates, in the United States.
