The CDPH’s Richmond Campus is a 29-acre property housing over 1,200 employees, located in Richmond’s Marina Bay and just minutes from the El Cerrito Del Norte and Richmond BART stations, with free shuttle service between the campus and the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. The campus includes offices, laboratories, and a warehouse. Free employee parking is available along with complimentary electric vehicle charging, a public transit subsidy of up to $300 per month, and access to an on-site gym.

Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by serving as the Electrician I for the Facilities Management Services (FMS) under Plant Operations. The Electrician I performs electrical assembly, installation, and repairs to support the operations and maintenance for all electrical utilities and power distributions systems at the Richmond Campus.

The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades (SBT).

This classification is eligible for a recruitment and retention pay differential for the Greater Bay Area at 5% above the base rate for each qualifying pay period.

This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.

 

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
