Job Description and Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by promoting equitable social, economic, and environmental conditions to achieve optimal health, mental health, and well-being for all.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Gender Health Equity Section Manager (HPM II) in the Office of Health Equity. Under the direction of the Section Manager, the HPS II leads the development of health policy responses related to health equity issues experienced by gender and sexual minority populations and reproductive and sexual health issues including abortion access.

The HPS II also leads and coordinates the implementation of training and technical assistance efforts focused on building the capacity of transgender, gender nonconforming and intersex-serving nonprofit organizations through the Section’s Application Assistance and Organizational Development Program (AAODP). The HPS II manages training and technical assistance contracts to support TGI-serving and other LBTQ organizations. The HPS-II serves as a subject matter expert in TGI health equity, representing the GHES on related CDPH working groups and committees and at external work groups, and meetings.

Finally, the HPS II is a highly skilled technical program consultant expected to provide coordination of activities including program planning, implementation, and evaluation; communications; stakeholder engagement; interpretation of research and data; training; and contract and budget management and lead the development of operational processes and systems to support the GHES including coordination and support for the design, implementation, tracking, monitoring, and reporting of GHES activities, goals and objectives.  Limited in-state travel may be required (10%).

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.
