This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by promoting equitable social, economic, and environmental conditions to achieve optimal health, mental health, and well-being for all.

The Health Program Manager II (HPM II), Climate Change and Health Resilience Planning Unit Manager, position is an opportunity for meaningful leadership in advancing health and racial equity through action to address the greatest health challenge of the 21st Century: climate change. This position will build the capacity of departments and offices in the California Health & Human Services Agency (CalHHS) to identify, prevent, and reduce the physical and mental health effects of climate change and maximize the health and racial equity benefits of climate action. The HPM II will work under the direction of the Health Program Manager III, Climate Change and Health Equity Branch Manager, in the Office of Health Equity (OHE), within CDPH.

Up to 5% travel may be required for this position, including occasional travel to Sacramento or the San Francisco Bay Area. Please be aware that the application and hiring process may take approximately six months.

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
