Job Description and Duties
THIS IS A STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT. This vacancy is being advertised in Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino  County. The position’s headquarters will be in the county nearest to the selected candidate’s residence.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan. The Medical Consultant I (MC I) assists the Center by ensuring the work of the surveyors are uniform and in compliance with the state laws and departmental policies. The MC I provides assistance in the development of policies and standards relative to the department’s programs related to health care and health care facilities. The job will require periodic travel within California and other states, up to 33% travel is required.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Medical Consultant II (Supervisor).

A hybrid telework schedule may be available for this position, in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures.

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200 and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
