Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to support our growing healthcare operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate coding, timely claim submission, denial management, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and payer requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent judgment, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for medical procedures and services
Prepare, submit, and monitor claims to insurance payers in a timely manner
Review, analyze, and resolve denied or rejected claims, including filing appeals
Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage details
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, payer policies, and industry standards
Communicate professionally with providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing inquiries
Maintain organized records, documentation, and billing reports
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and claims performance.
Qualifications:
Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) strongly preferred
Minimum of 1–2 years of professional medical billing and coding experience
Proficient knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
Experience working with EHR and practice management platforms
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
