Description
The Suh Lab is seeking to hire a Staff Associate II to study human brain aging and aging-related diseases using large public databases. This individual will play a role in curating and organizing the large datasets, conducting data analysis, and contributing to manuscript writing, including but not limited to disease categorization, standardization of medical trait terms, and organizing summary statistics. The individual will also be responsible for managing the data and maintaining the operating system of Suh Lab workstations to ensure they are up to date for security purposes.
Specific skills:
· Functional knowledge: Research subject specifically within own function
· Problem Solving: Moderately complex situations, analyzing problem solving based on education and experience
· Decision making/Autonomy: Carries out research projects with limited PI supervision both collaboratively and independently
· Technical Expertise: Operates and maintains Linux system, software programs for research in support of the project
· Communication: Summarizes and explains information to others and contribute to publications

Job Responsibilities:
· Download, curate, and organize public databases relevant to brain aging and aging-related diseases
· Develop and maintain analysis pipeline for the project purposes
· Summarize and interpret large datasets to extract meaningful insights related to brain aging
· Learn and adapt to a new type of data and method to analyze brain aging-related data
· Work on data analyses including disease categorization, standardization of trait terms, and other relevant metrics
· Work on writing manuscript
· Maintaining the Linux operating system up to date for security purposes

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
· Bachelor’s degree in brain science related field and 4 years’ experience
· Experience using R language
· Experience working in a biology field lab
Preferred Qualifications:
· A master’s degree in brain science related field
· Experience in Linux operating system
