The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Health Program Assistant 2 within our Practitioner Investigations Unit. The Health Program Assistant 2 is responsible for performing investigations of complaints related to individual practitioners and/or entities that are regulated by the Department of Public Health, that may impact public health and safety. See below for additional information on this great opportunity!

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
Work Hours: Full-time, First Shift, 35 hours per week
Location: 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Assisting and conducting investigations related to alleged violations of state laws and regulations and complaints filed with the Department, including but not limited to interviewing witnesses
Securing evidence in the form of statements, documents and records
Examining, analyzing and evaluating records
Researching, collecting and evaluating data
Compiling information and writing reports
Answering public inquires
Preparing affidavits
Testifying at hearings and in court

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Healthcare Quality and Safety Branch regulates access to health care professions and provides regulatory oversight of health care facilities and services. The branch protects public health by ensuring competent and capable health care service providers. The branch consists of four major program components, which have responsibility for implementing state licensure and federal certification programs. The branch has the authority to investigate and take disciplinary action against providers who are in violation of the law or otherwise pose a risk to public health and safety.

The Practitioner Investigations Unit is a part of the Practitioner Licensing and Investigations Section (PLIS) and the Healthcare Quality & Safety Branch. The Practitioner Licensing and Investigations Section is responsible for ensuring a safe and competent health care workforce by licensing health care practitioners and investigating complaints received about individual providers. PLIS Licenses nearly 70 professions.
