Associate Director for Collective Impact

 

Emory University, a comprehensive research university, is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Collective Impact at the newly named Center for Student Wellbeing. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and drive Emory’s vision of being a Health Promoting Campus centered on shared health and wellbeing outcomes. The Center for Student Wellbeing will lead a comprehensive approach to campus wellbeing for all Emory students, including serving as the backbone structure for Emory’s development of a Collective Impact approach to student wellbeing. The Center will serve as the focal point for the University’s culture of wellbeing for all students and a hub for holistic health promotion, prevention, peer engagement, and overall advancement of community wellbeing. Building upon Emory’s existing resources in health, mental health, and wellness, the Center’s signature programs and services will include wellbeing coaching, contemplative practice engagement, alcohol and other drug prevention, sexual health promotion, bystander intervention, health and wellbeing assessment, and a variety of other wellbeing programs and initiatives.

 

The Associate Director will report to the Executive Director for the Center for Student Wellbeing and will play a key role in promoting and managing initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall health and wellbeing of all Emory University students. This includes developing and implementing evidence-based and data-driven wellbeing and prevention programs that are measurable and collectively impactful. As part of a comprehensive team of professionals, the Associate Director will partner with various university constituents to provide a holistic network of wellbeing resources and support services. Emory is seeking candidates with excellent project management abilities, the capacity to build strong coalitions, and the skills to lead and oversee collaborative initiatives focused on student wellbeing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive health promotion initiatives consistent with the Okanagan Charter and Health Promoting University concepts.

• Assist with the development, management, and successful execution of concurrent projects connected to a Collective Impact infrastructure for the university.

• Develops detailed work plans, schedules, and ongoing status reports of Collective Impact initiatives.

• Works with the Executive Director and other members of the Center for Student Wellbeing Leadership Team to build and maintain productive relationships across key university constituents, advisory groups, and work groups who hold broad and at times competing agendas.

• Assists with the development and implementation of a shared common agenda, definitions, goals, actions, and outcome measures.

• Assist with the development and utilization of wellbeing metrics connected to Collective Impact strategic goals, including developing effective storytelling methods to further engage the community.

• Incorporate diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice concepts and principles into socio-ecological health promotion efforts.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in public health, health promotion, social work, or related fields; or an equivalent combination of a bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.

• At least four years of directly related professional experience required.

• Demonstrated understanding of the concepts of the Okanagan Charter and practices of Health Promoting Universities.

• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills for engaging the campus community (students, staff, and faculty).

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that contribute to successful collaborations with relevant, diverse stakeholders.

• Strong data, assessment, research, and associated technology utilization skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and pay close attention to detail.

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.

• Demonstrated compassionate teamwork attitude and skills.

• Ability to use both data and concepts in the delivering of compelling and effective presentations for a variety of audiences.

• Demonstrated team-orientation, flexibility, and investment in ongoing learning.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• At least five years of experience in health promotion in a campus setting.

• Knowledge and experience working with a Collective Impact framework.

• Experience developing and implementing large scale project management.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to share and receive knowledge, build authentic relationships, and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
