Overview

This position plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and provides leadership to the Gallatin City-County Health Department’s (GCCHD) Environmental Health Services (EHS) programs, including licensed establishments (such as restaurants, hotels, pools, and spas), wastewater treatment system reviews, Subdivisions in Sanitation Act reviews, compliance, and the Gallatin Local Water Quality District. The Director collaborates with community organizations, the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and the public. The Director provides overarching leadership and management of the Environmental Health Services (EHS) programs and staff.

This position is responsible for the daily management of a diverse workforce, the evaluation of several public health programs, and oversight of multiple contracts. Reporting to the Health Officer, the position directly supervises three managers who are responsible for supervising and managing all Environmental Health Services employees. These managers provide day-to-day guidance and support to their respective teams within the department.

Additionally, this role is one of three key positions in the Department designated to serve as the acting or interim Health Officer when the Health Officer is unavailable due to leave, incapacity, or other circumstances.
