Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will support and assist to perform experimental investigations of bacterial gene expression using genetic and genomic approaches. The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will be trained in experimental design, scientific literacy, and in the relevant genetic and genomic techniques, including analysis of genome-scale datasets.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!

Minimum Qualifications

Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a related major.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a laboratory setting.  Coursework in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or biostatistics. Evidence of strong skills in record taking.  Good oral and written communication skills.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 8/30/2024. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position. Therefore, the incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment including but not limited to a lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
