Responsibilities

The Research Scientist II will coordinate the handling and evaluation of data and linkage of data sets, preparation of statistical summaries, developing data usage plans, interpretation of results (including charts, tables, and graphs), train and supervise staff; and dissemination of data relating to injuries and their prevention. The Research Scientist II will use injury surveillance systems to identify at risk populations, predict patterns, and recognize risk factors; link and monitor the motor vehicle traffic injury database; provide epidemiological and surveillance management to the New York Violent Death Reporting System; and communicate findings with stakeholders and general audiences. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or a closely related field and three years of research experience; OR a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or a closely related field and two years of such experience; OR a doctorate in a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience conducting data linkage, statistical analysis, and epidemiological research. Experience in SAS and Microsoft Access. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience.

 

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
