Responsibilities

The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will support the build of custom instrumentation for high-resolution time-lapse imaging of bacterial cultures under the guidance of the PI. The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will be trained in experimental design, scientific literacy, relevant bacterial cell culturing techniques, and imaging techniques.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in a related engineering field.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with fabrication and instrumentation for biological applications in a laboratory setting.  Coursework in biology or microbiology. Evidence of strong skills in record taking.  Demonstrated, good oral and written communication skills.

 

Conditions of Employment

Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 6/26/2025. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available.

Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position. Therefore, the incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment
