Responsibilities
The Program Research Specialist II (PRSII) will work in Office of Science and Technology, contributing to the implementation of health informatics strategies to support work related to multiply health related study. In collaboration with staff in this office and other programs in the Office of Public Health, the incumbent will be responsible for data cleaning and processing, helping teams analyze individual and linked datasets related to critical projects such as emerging health conditions, infectious diseases, and environmental surveillance. The PRSII will also contribute to the development and maintenance of Tableau data dashboards. The analyses will support policy evaluation and decision-making in response to emerging conditions. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health or related field and two years of experience in public health research, surveillance, and evaluation. Proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation, and dissemination of data for varied audiences, and provision of surveillance and evaluation technical assistance. Background and experience with analyzing large public health data sources. Intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS including proficient use of SAS BASE, SQL, GRAPH, STAT, ODS, and MACRO. Intermediate proficiency using Tableau for data visualization and dashboard development. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in groups.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
