The salary for this position will range from $61,088-$74,088.
Responsibilities
The Research Affiliate I will work with a Principal Investigator to develop their post-doctoral skill set. The incumbent will contribute to developing and validating high-resolution mass spectrometric methods for the analysis of ultra-trace levels of organic chemicals in human and environmental specimens; receive training to perform mass spectrometric data analysis; and be trained to prepare project reports and manuscripts for publication. In addition, through training and mentorship under a Principal Investigator, the Research Affiliate I will be responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) instruments.
This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in natural sciences, environmental science, engineering, or an appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing research in a biomonitoring laboratory involving human specimens such as blood and urine. Experience in trace organic analysis techniques and method development. Experience authoring publications for peer-reviewed journals. Experience in sample extraction using solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction methods and development of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for instrumental analysis; experience with instrument operating software; experience operating and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS and GC-MS instruments; experience in managing human biomonitoring research projects such as HHEAR (human health exposure analysis resource) and Generation R.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available.
