Responsibilities

The Software Engineer/Developer will perform computer application development activities in support of the New York State Department of Health Strategic Planning Process for all DOH programs. Specific duties will include: contribute to the development, testing, implementation, and deployment of user-friendly and interactive simulators and other tools for DOH Strategic Planning process across all programs; explore and build new and innovative tools for systematically analyzing, supporting, and communicating the Department’s strategic plan and performance-cased decision making; unit testing of software components; joint application design sessions; contribute to the release management process; and other appropriate related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of computer programming, database design/development, or systems analysis; OR four years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with JavaScript and its tools, concepts, and frameworks. (Angular 2+, RxJS, CSS, asynchronous programming)
Experience with Java and its peripheral technology such as Springboot, Jenkins, Maven and weblogic.
Experience with RESTFUL and SOAP webservices. (Experience with develop API’s is a plus)
Familiar with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
Experience developing database tables, triggers and stored procedures. (Experience with relational database is a plus)
Strong knowledge of version control tools such as Git.
Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
