SUMMARY

Heluna Health is seeking a Perinatal Health Program Director in New Orleans, LA (NOLA) for SHERO (Shaping Healthy Equitable Reproductive Outcomes) our signature program designed to reduce maternal mortality and improve birth outcomes. SHERO NOLA specifically serves the New Orleans community through maternal health services, education, and technology-driven solutions to meet moms where they are.  The Perinatal Health Program Director will lead SHERO NOLA in advancing perinatal health equity and outcomes for Black women and families. This role will require an experienced leader to build the program from the ground up and create sustainable impact in the New Orleans community.

This position is hybrid and must be available during Pacific Standard Time Zone.

The position requires flexible work hours, including some evenings and weekends for community events.

The salary for this position is $65,000 annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the strategic planning, growth, and sustainability of SHERO NOLA, aligning with Momentum Park’s overall mission.
  • Use a Lean Start-Up approach to implement and refine program strategies, achieve specific aims and objectives and focus on innovation and long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee program goals, timelines, and deliverables to ensure measurable impact.
  • Work with Momentum Park leadership to ensure resources and support are in place for success.

Team Development:

  • Take full responsibility for managing personnel, building a high-quality team dedicated to SHERO NOLA’s mission.
  • Lead the recruitment and development of staff, setting clear expectations and providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture that emphasizes accountability and growth.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective execution of interventions in both virtual and community settings.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to optimize program performance and scalability.
  • Manage program budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with grant deliverables.

Community Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, local healthcare systems, and funders to expand SHERO NOLA’s reach.
  • Represent SHERO NOLA at community, local and State events, social media, lay press and other outlets to advocate increase visibility and grow demand of SHERO NOLA services.
  • Organize outreach events and initiatives to engage the local community and recruit new SHERO moms.

Program Evaluation & Innovation:

  • Lead data collection and program evaluation to track progress and refine strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for funders and stakeholders.
  • Foster continuous innovation by incorporating feedback and lessons learned into program design.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in program management, healthcare administration, or leadership in maternal health.
  • Proven success in managing teams, including onboarding and staff development.
  • Experience using Lean Start-up or similar methodologies to develop and scale programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing complex programs and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in gathering, entering, and analyzing data and fiscal information/reports.
  • Experience with budgets, and monitoring/reporting performance measures.
  • Deep understanding of racial health disparities and social determinants of health.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to New Orleans for in-person community engagement.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Maternal & Child Health, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

2 years’ experience working in a non-profit and/or health care setting; preferably with women, infants and children, obstetricians, midwives or doulas in a lead worker or coordinator capacity required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proficient in conducting Zoom and other virtual platform meetings and webinars.
  • Proficient using computers, tablets, printers, cellphones, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Proficient in public speaking with professional, community and lay audiences.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with Apple products and services (I-chat, Facetime, I-Message)
  • Experience posting on social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook)
  • Experience engaging with the media (television, radio, podcasts, newspapers, etc.)

Certificates/Licenses/Clearances

  • A valid Louisiana Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions.
  • Background check required.

This is a hybrid role, requiring work from home and in-person engagement in New Orleans, LA.
