Overview

The Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health is seeking a Nutrition Technician to join the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct initial certification and recertification, provide primary and secondary nutrition education, provide high risk counseling, and create care plans for participants, collect anthropometric and hematological data.
Accurately obtain documents to establish participants proof of residence, identity, and proof of pregnancy.
Follow established federal and state guidelines for prescribing infant formulas, other special dietary formulas, and appropriate food packages consistent with guidelines and the applicant’s dietary/health requirements and preference.
Follow state and agency guidelines for providing high risk and breastfeeding counseling.
Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of the program nutrition education objectives.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Assist in other components of the Program as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or certification as a Dietetic Technician.
One-year related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Physiology, Culinary Arts or related discipline
Ability to work closely with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Possess an understanding of food science and how it effects bodies.
Attention to detail.
