Primary purpose: Provides consulting, design, training, and development services to help healthcare facilities and software vendors understand and submit data on antimicrobial use and resistance to a national surveillance system. Conducts analysis to ensure that projects align with client expectations.

A successful candidate will:

Develop trainings, project updates, and presentations on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) work in antimicrobial use and resistance for clients, stakeholders and partners.
Provide direct end-user education and technical support for data submission and analysis of data within the surveillance system.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan, develop, and implement projects.
Maintain documentation of processes and procedures.
Analyze and understand client needs and translate them into formal requirements.
Take part in application testing and provide feedback to software developers and quality-assurance technicians.
Exhibit attention to detail when developing materials, reviewing documentation, troubleshooting issues, and reporting results.
Conduct analyses of healthcare and public health data in SAS; interpret, summarize, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
Stay informed of industry trends and changes.

Requirements:
Masters degree in Public Health or other health science field
A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience
Experience with public-health surveillance systems and a demonstrated understanding of key surveillance principles and practices
Experience using SAS or R to import and manipulate data/datasets and to conduct analyses to summarize surveillance data and evaluate data quality
Ability to effectively communicate complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to successfully complete a Position of Public Trust background investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with data on antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and/or Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI)
Experience working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)
Knowledge of Clinical Document Architecture (CDA)
Experience with R and/or Python
