Overview
LSU Health New Orleans and the School of Public Health are growing their cancer-related programs, and as such, are seeking candidates for open rank faculty positions in the Community Health Sciences and Policy Program (CHSP) with expertise in cancer and community outreach and engagement. We are seeking candidates with prior experience or expertise in at least one of the following: (1) multi-level interventions to address cancer health disparities and/or inequities; (2) community-based participatory research in cancer intervention; (3) cancer related health services research; or (3) community capacity building in cancer prevention and early detection.
Applicants must hold a doctorate degree. Preferred candidates will have a doctorate degree in public health, community health, social work, or a related field. Applicants with a doctorate degree in a different field who have a masters or demonstrated experience in public or community health will also be considered for this position.
Candidates being considered for this position will have evidence of existing (at the associate professor level or above) or potential (at the assistant professor level) for establishing an independent, extramurally funded research program, a demonstrated interest in teaching, and a commitment to public health. Candidates will be expected to teach courses, collaborate with other researchers, establish independent externally funded research, and advise and mentor students and post-doctoral fellows.
The CHSP Program offers Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. CHSP faculty members enjoy strong collaborative relationships with other Programs in the School of Public Health and with schools across the health sciences center, including the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Dentistry, School of Allied Health, and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
