POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to provide psychological services in a maximum-security forensic hospital, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center. This includes treatment of patients and assessment of patients, to include the use of psychological tests and related procedures. Individuals hospitalized include persons charged with serious violent felonies (e.g., murder, arson, sexual offenses, etc.) and patients referred from prisons, detention centers, courts, and other mental health facilities not able to effectively treat them due to the level of violence, behavioral disturbance, or risk of escape. The position also involves providing forensic psychological evaluations of outpatient pretrial defendants charged with serious violent felonies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the  Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position.  Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license but the application will be designated in pending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit.  When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to MDH to remove the pending status from the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
