Position Summary
Assesses environmental conditions and conducts abatement measures as necessary. This position, under direct supervision, supports the Public Health Department and its efforts to ensure regulatory compliance throughout Mecklenburg County.
These positions will be surveying known mosquito breeding sites for activity and treating as necessary. Applicants will receive training to acquire needed skills and knowledge to successfully perform tasks required.
Essential Functions
-Conduct and perform field investigations to assess environmental conditions
-Educate, guide, and direct property owners and residents on compliance with applicable laws and regulations
-Participate in neighborhood educational campaigns and surveys
-Perform control strategies as related to their environmental specialty
-Compile and develop educational information to individuals and organizations

-High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications
-Will require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License
-Must obtain and maintain a valid Mecklenburg County Vehicle Operator’s Permit
-Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required
Preferred Qualifications
-Currently enrolled in a post-secondary physical or biological sciences program
-Public Health/Environmental Health program enrollment.
