Position Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Business Development Manager to lead our efforts to build a multi-year, multi-million-dollar pipeline in line with M4M strategy and target fundraising goals to grow and diversify M4M’s revenue streams. This role is critical in expanding our funding pipeline by engaging with corporations, foundations, and impact investing firms and will be a key member of the Leadership Team. Target partnerships include non profit collaborations, corporate foundations, the philanthropic sector (large foundations and family foundations), impact investors, and social entrepreneurs.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in proactive outreach, partnership development, and have demonstrated successful engagement with at least three of the target sectors, and an understanding of different engagement strategies. This role requires someone who is a builder and connector, a proven fundraiser with strong relationship instincts, who can cultivate transformative, relationship-based partnerships. In this role, you’ll lead our external engagement for a diversified partnership base, attending conferences, building relationships to advance M4M’s opportunities in health and development, and turning those connections into long-term partnerships. You’ll also manage the internal systems we need to scale, prioritizing leads, managing the relationships and proposal pipeline, and creating or refining tools and processes to support a growing team.
Although this is a consultant role, the individual is expected to operate like a member of the M4M team including attending staff meetings, representing the organization as a member of the team, and traveling to conferences or team retreats, and should be prepared to quickly immerse themselves in the work, proactively take ownership of tasks, and roll up their sleeves to get things done as part of a small, fast-paced team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Fundraising & Revenue Generation:
Develop and implement strategies to diversify funding sources, focusing on corporations, foundations, and impact investors, and building a 2-year, multimillion-dollar pipeline that prioritizes multi-year engagement.
Collaborate with team members on proposals, strategic pipeline development, and long-term partner and funder engagement.
Serve as project manager for proposals and steward key funders in collaboration with CEO and COO.
Identify new funding opportunities aligned with M4M’s strategic priorities, including multi-year, unrestricted, or capacity-building support.
Develop and present compelling presentations and proposals for donors and prospects, coordinate prospect and donor meetings, and draft communications on behalf of CEO and other leaders.
Support high-value prospecting, donor strategy development, outreach, and stewardship alongside the CEO and COO.
Work collaboratively with M4M staff to identify specific fundraising needs, create impactful outreach strategies, create donor collateral, and ensure excellent donor stewardship.
Collaborate with CEO and COO to bridge marketing, research, and business development.
Identify and attend relevant conferences and events to network and facilitate partnerships.
Implement a relationship-based fundraising approach.
2. Pipeline Development:
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of funding opportunities through researchand identification of new prospects.
Collaborate with the internal team to align funding strategies with organizational goals and programmatic needs.
Forge strategic partnerships to leverage resources and expertise in addressing health, equity, and development challenges.
3. Reporting and Analytics:
Monitor and report on funding trends, donor engagement metrics, and partnership outcomes to inform strategic decision-making.
Prepare regular updates for leadership on business development activities and fundraising progress.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles, preferably within the global health or health consulting sectors.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive projects forward independently but also to collaborate with a team.
Proven track record of securing funding from corporations, foundations, and impact investors.
Strong networking skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating M4M’s mission and impact effectively.
Familiarity with global health and development issues and trends is highly desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
What We Offer
Base annual salary of $105,000-$115,000 with opportunity for additional milestone based compensation.

Location
Baltimore, MD or potential for remote within the United States, with an expectation of significant overlap with US East Coast business hours. Preference for candidates who can work two days per week from M4M’s Baltimore office.
