Overview

This position provides leadership of programming related to health, nutrition, and physical activity for the early childhood population in Michigan and promotes interventions that make the healthy choice the easy choice in community settings and with community partners that provide support for this SNAP-Ed eligible priority population.

 

You will support SNAP-Ed staff in providing age appropriate, culturally relevant, and neurodiverse education and support the policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes. You will guide PSE coaching that supports community partners interested in creating or implementing PSE changes that support healthy lifestyles for SNAP-Ed eligible early childhood populations in Michigan.

 

You will explore and implement programs that support SNAP-Ed eligible audiences improve their nutrition security, promote food access, encourage physical activity, and work with community partners to improve the settings where people eat, live, learn, work, play, shop, or worship. You will also develop, produce, and deliver SNAP-Ed outreach materials with messaging and content that is accessible and inclusive and is consistent with the Health and Nutrition Institute and/or SNAP-Ed messaging.

 

Your work will include close collaboration with colleagues at MSU and MSU Extension, and the diverse network of partner groups that includes the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. You will collaborate with the SNAP-Ed Coordinator, PSE Lead Educator, and the Nutrition and Physical Activity work team. Acting as a statewide point of contact, you will provide support for the early childhood population being reached through the SNAP- Ed program at MSU Extension.

 

Although negotiable, there will be space available for this position to work from the Lake County MSU Extension office.

 

This position may be eligible to utilize a flexible work environment, however, there is an expectation to work from a MSU Extension county office. The needs, responsibilities, and opportunities of an individual’s position and office location drive the ability and amount of work-location flexibility.

 

Minimum Qualifications (see full description for complete list of requirements)‌

Master’s degree related to public health, human development, nutrition, kinesiology, social work, community health services, sociology, or related field.
