Community Health Corps Montana (CHCM) is an AmeriCorps program hosted by the Montana Office of Rural Health & Area Health Education Center (MORH/AHEC). We connect passionate individuals with mission-driven organizations to strengthen health access, reduce stigma, and expand community partnerships across Montana. If you’re eager to grow as a professional, build meaningful relationships, and make a difference—this program is for you.

What Will I Do as a Member?
CHCM members serve approximately 40 hours per week in a full-time capacity from September 14 to July 30, 2027. Each member is placed with a local Montana organization—such as a nonprofit, tribal program, or community coalition—and works on projects grounded in local health needs.

Depending on your placement, you might:

  • Deliver educational sessions on mental health, chronic disease prevention, or social service access.
  • Lead outreach campaigns to reduce stigma around mental illness, substance use, or public programs.
  • Expand care coordination systems or strengthen local referral networks.
  • Support resource mapping, data collection, or partnership-building.
  • Facilitate community discussions or organize collaborative events.

You’ll receive structured training, professional development, and ongoing support from the CHCM team and your fellow members.

What’s Expected of Me?
This opportunity is ideal for emerging professionals ready to lead with curiosity, humility, and initiative. We’re looking for individuals who can:

  • Commit to full-time service (~40 hours/week) for the entire service term.
  • Communicate professionally with diverse community members, supervisors, and partners.
  • Track data and manage timelines with accuracy and accountability.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, adapting to new tasks and community settings.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to community voice, community need, and public service.
  • Engage in training, reflection, and professional development with an open mind.

  • 18+ years old, with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents
  • Able to pass required federal background checks
  • In possession of reliable personal transportation
