A Day in the Life as a Director of Operation and Safety Compliance

Imagine starting your day with a team huddle, discussing the daily goals and priorities. You oversee the intake and safe storage of raw milk, ensuring strict adherence to safety and accreditation standards. Your role involves managing the pasteurization process, coordinating with third-party labs for microbiological testing, and overseeing the distribution of milk to hospitals and families. You work closely with your team, providing guidance and support, and continuously seek ways to improve operational efficiency and safety. Throughout the day, you collaborate with various departments, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

 

What it Takes to be Successful as a Director of Operation and Safety Compliance

·        Strong leadership and staff management skills

·        Meticulous attention to detail

·        Exemplary communication abilities

·        Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement

·        Background in healthcare, lab sciences, public health, or food safety

 

The Minimum Requirements to be Considered

·        Bachelor’s degree required, minimum of 5 years of management experience

·        Experience in regulatory compliance and safety management

·        Data management and analysis skills

·        Proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with databases (Salesforce a plus)

·        Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), ServSafe, and Food Safety Manager certifications are a plus (will be required to fulfill upon hiring)

 

What You’ll Need to Learn in the First 90 Days to Excel at This Job

·        Detailed understanding of milk pasteurization and storage processes

·        Familiarity with accreditation and safety standards specific to milk banking

·        Effective use of internal databases and reporting tools

·        Collaboration with different departments to support the organization’s mission

 

Work Schedule & Location

·        Full-time position based in Newton, MA

·        Weekdays with occasional weekends and evenings

·        On-site presence required
